There is no way to strip paint off furniture without stripping off the finish underneath but if you want to paint another color just paint a coat of a color which makes the required color

Unfortunately, all products used to remove paint, will also at the same time remove the original finish. Do not try to sand the paint off, trying to get pigmented paint out of corners, nitches, & around turnings by sanding, will only damage the profiles of the surfaces. Resign yourself to removing all of the finish. My recomendation, is to have it done professionally. While u may be able to do the job, & get good results, if u do happen to have a problem, then the cost of ''redoing'' ur work will be on you. If done professionally, if the finished product does not suit ur expectations, the pro does it over, & it does not cost u any more. Also, the pro has the tools, space, & the knowledge of how it should be done. Reworking a ''painted'' piece, is a pain in the u know what!

May be! If you are lucky the top layer is latex paint and the original layer is not. There are a great number of paint removers that will only remove latex and not oil base. Take a small piece or a drawer to a pro paint store and ask them. They may have some one on staff that can take a look and offer advise. Try starting on a hard to see spot and see if it works.
